The first day of summer is only three weeks away, and many of us are beginning to regret that extra hot dog this Memorial Day Weekend.
So what can you do in order to feel great in your bikini this summer? Luckily, medical weight-loss doctor Dr. Sue Decotiis, has laid out her tips and advice to follow to feel and look beach-body ready!
Consume an adequate high-protein breakfast -most of your calories should be consumed at this time to start firing up that metabolism early in the day. Examples of high-quality protein include egg whites, reduced-fat cheese, nonfat Greek yogurt, and salmon.
- Continue with a “lean & green” lunch with plenty of high-fiber vegetables. Examples include mixed green salad with tuna and turkey slices rolled up in romaine leaves with mustard.
- Finish the day with small protein dinner. Consider a whey protein shake to keep you full until bedtime. Recent research shows that whey protein quickly fills you up.
Increase intake of prebiotics in addition to a high quality probiotic. Prebiotics work wonders on gut bacteria which can rev metabolism, ease digestion and reduce bloating. Prebiotics help fuel probiotics, the beneficial bacteria in your gut which can help you lose weight and keep it off long term. Onions, garlic, shallots, leeks, scallions, Jerusalem artichokes, and fiber are excellent prebiotics, however a prebiotic supplement will ensure your daily needs. Our patients have had great weight loss success with our prebiotic and probiotic supplement regimen!
#3 Physical Activity:
Incorporate short bouts of intense exercise to really rev metabolism and ignite the fat-burning in your body. Turn that daily walk up a notch by incorporating intervals of very brisk walking to increase heart rate. Those who are more advanced can run outside for 1 minute, then walk for 3. Or, play games: run/jog to a mailbox, then pick another landmark and walk to it. Repeat for 20-30 minutes daily and you’ll have your bikini body in no time!
